About

on the yucatan beachThis is our story. . . of the events in our lives that led to the decision to retire in Mexico. .

We are just ordinary folk. . country folk. . having reached the time in our lives where our dreams and aspirations are to live out our later years in peace and without the nagging worry of ‘enough money to get by on’. . . something that is becoming increasingly difficult to do here in the United States. . . taxes, medical, insurance, and the general cost of living have soared since we built our little home in the country where we had planned to do just that. .

We will tell the tale in bits and pieces. . a blog of the event that altered our lives, of our search and research of life south of the border, of the pros and cons we weighed and judged to make a decision, of the location we chose, of the many aspects of building a life in this new place, of buying or building a home there, of the many other various bits of information we come upon in this journey, and hope to continue with updates of our life once settled into our new home. . . on the beach . . in the Yucatan of Mexico. . .

We have many friends here that we hesitate to leave. . . good friends that are hard to find. . we hope to find more friends in this venture. . .and plan to stay in touch with those here in Texas. . Our children are grown and on life’s ventures of their own. . ones which we hope will bring them to visit us often at ‘Mom and Pop’s Place on the Beach’. . .

The home we are leaving is a story in it’s own. . a family venture . . ‘actually’ built with a lot of blood, sweat and tears in carving a spot out of seventeen acres of wooded land; laying in of utilities; and the hands-on building project. . . . not easy to leave and requires a page of its own to tell the story . . .the picture that I share with this entry is of this home.
