Jul 19 - Plans, plans and plans

We are just in the preliminary stages of our intended move to the Yucatan. . having made but one trip down to the Merida and Progreso areas . . have purchased our beach front lot. . having decided to build rather than buy already built or remodel an existing home. . . but still are a long way off from the actual transition to life on the beach. . . . There are many things that we have to see to yet in order to make this move. .

Paperwork plenty!. . And we continue to research the laws that we must abide by in making this move to Mexico. . That in itself will take some time and patience in accomplishing. . One can’t just ‘pack up and hit the road’. . . And, one is limited on the amount and ‘type’ of personal possessions they take with them. . . Not only that factor, but the cost of transporting bulky items (such as furnishings) has swayed our decision to ‘clean house’ here - to do away with most everything - except those items of personal worth: pictures, mementos that cannot be replaced (that glass dish that has been passed down for generations - as an example), the purple dishes and glasses that I cannot find any more!, these computers, and I am sure that I will find other objects that just have to travel with me. . .and haul the rest outside where the ‘Yard Sale’ sign is posted. . .

The house plans that I had been working on are still scattered all over the kitchen table, where the morning coffee inspires me to keep ‘revising’ and ‘polishing’. . . . and I am deadly with that electric eraser. . . What I had thought would be (close to) the finished layout has changed quite a bit. . .the overall scheme of the shape and size remains the same, but the working plan within is coming closer to what I had envisioned. . . But another project this next week requires my attention more than the plans. . .

After seventeen plus years in one place, it seems I have way more ’stuff’ than I thought I had!!. . (wonder how that happened?). . A couple of days of trying to go through things and eliminate ‘clutter’ brought to my attention the fact that I had no where to go with what I wanted to eliminate! . . So - a ‘first stage’ yard sale has been planned. . .’Hopefully’ this will give me some space to work with. . . But this also will keep me well occupied this next week in preparing for that sale. . .

Hope the turnout is good. . . this is in the country, down a dirt and gravel county road, quite in contrast to setting up the ‘goodies’ in your garage in a housing district, where traffic passes by. . We intend to advertise, both in the local shopper and on the morning ‘tradio’ on the local radio. . . and will have to set up signs to show the way. . .Wish us luck. . and I hope someone really needs that ’saddle’. . and that ‘weider weight bench’. . and that telescope. . and those two desks. . and those tires.. . .and the running boards. . etc. etc. .

And I hope to find time to continue here with a post or two during this next week. . .
