Jun 26 - Looking For That Beachfront Dream Home

Good Morning World

searchingI’m awake and feeling chipper today-Rainy here today, so I’m on the computer. Was sitting here thinking about all the wonderful web sites that tell all about Mazatlan   I had found long ago (with the help of Google) for great information. But there are many sites run by very informed people, maztravel is very good indeed for information on the expats who call Mazatlan home.

mazatlanAs I stated in my first post, Mazatlan was my first choice to live. The area seemed to be perfect; the ocean, the established expat base, the size of the city with shopping and the extent of modern medical facilities and doctors. All these things added up to a place anyone would love to live.

During several months of looking and reviewing sites dedicated to real estate in this area, I noticed that the market there was not just hot, it had started to glow!! Prices continued to rise by the month, and beachfront property was out of the question. You see, I wanted a beachfront ( waterfront ) home for around $195,000 ..

In Mazatlan this isn’t going to happen. But it still has a wonderful base of gringos that are willing to help in any way they can. !!!

lake-chapala.jpgI talked to the wife and informed her I was going to start another survey south of Guadalajara – Lake Chapala..

This was another area that had a large base of American and Canadian expats living in their own paradise. Having an existing group of expats living in an area gives one a vast amount of knowledge about the area and the general life style there. And Guadalajara is a wonderful city to shop, buy real estate and has wonderful modern medical facilities..

After a few months of looking at very informative web sites, I concluded this was a nice place and a very nice year around climate. But the wife wanted ocean property..

But where to find affordable waterfront?? Cancun , Puerto Vallarta – I don’t think so.

Ahh – There is another place some folks have mentioned as being a very inviting place. It’s not now known as a tourist area , or is it..

Hmmm the Yucatan, Where exactly is that??

A place called Merida and the Progreso area. So let’s check it out…the real estate market, living cost, stores, shopping and medical for the old folks..

Well guess that’s enough for now – need to sleep and build up the memories of all this , so I can get this as close to right as I can. You may want to use this as your guide !!

Have a good day all….

Bill
